Item 5BRESOLUTION NO. 02 -007 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE FEBRUARY 2, 2002, ELECTION HELD TO DETERMINE WHETHER TO CONTINUE THE SOUTHLAKE CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT AND SALES TAX FOR FIFTEEN YEARS. WHEREAS, on February 2, 2002, an election was held in accordance with Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 363, for the purpose of voting on the continuation of a sales and use tax for the purpose of financing the operation of a crime control and prevention district in the City Southlake, Texas; and WHEREAS, Section 323.405 of the Tax Code requires that the governing body shall declare the results of the election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1 At a special election held on February 2, 2002, the following proposition was submitted to the voters and approved: "Whether the Southlake Crime Control and Prevention District should be continued for fifteen years and the crime control and prevention district sales tax should be continued for fifteen years." SECTION 2 Votes were cast as follows: For the proposition: 473 votes Against the proposition: 105 votes Therefore the proposition was approved by 368 votes. City of Southlake Resolution No. 02 -007 Page 2 SECTION 3 The City Secretary is directed to immediately send to the comptroller by certified or registered mail, a certified copy of this resolution, along with a map of the City of Southlake clearly showing its boundaries. SECTION 4 This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and it is so resolved. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS DAY OF , 2002.
