Action Requested:
Authorize the City Manager to purchase a digital recorder for the
9-1-1 Communication Center located at 667 North Carroll Avenue.
Background
Information:
The 9-1-1 Communication Center records Police and Fire radio traffic and
incoming telephone calls to the center twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7)
days a week. Currently we are operating at 100 percent of the recorder’s
capacity. The recorder has reached the end of its life cycle and the
manufacturer has discontinued the software and hardware support. Recall of
9-1-1 events and radio traffic are essential when reviewing and analyzing
emergency calls.
Financial
Considerations:
Purchased through HGAC, the recorder cost is $29,998.51.
Financial Impact:
Funds are available for purchasing the digital recorder in the current DPS
budget.

No citizen input has been received. Not subject to any Board review.
Legal Review:

Alternatives:
The Council may approve the request, deny the request, or approve it subject to
conditions.
