Blagg, Assistant City Manager /Director of Public Safety Subject: Approve permit from Southlake Arts Council, APEX Arts League and Art In The Square to allow the public display of art in Town Hall from April 19, 2011 through May 17, 2011 Action Requested: City Council approval of a permit to display art work in Town Hall lobby from April 19 - May 17, 2011. Background Information: In line with the approved Policy for the Display of Art in Public Facilities /Properties, the Southlake Arts Council, APEX Arts League and Art In The Square have submitted a permit to display eight (8) pieces of artwork on individual panels in Southlake Town Hall lobby April 19 - May 17, 2011. The display, "Art in the City," is part of a reception hosted by Southlake Arts Council, APEX Arts League and Art In the Square to be held April 19 in the lobby. The display will cover less than 30% of the wall space and will not have any floor displays. The Permit meets the provisions of the Display of Public Arts Policy. Financial Considerations: N/A Strategic Link: This Permit is linked to the City Council Focus Areas of Quality Development and Partnerships and Volunteerism. The Permit also addresses the corporate objectives of providing attractive and unique spaces for enjoyment of personal interests and providing opportunities for partnerships and volunteer involvement. Citizen Input/ Board Review: Southlake Arts Council recommended approval 6 -0 at their March 22, 2011 meeting. City Council consideration of Permit March 29, 2011.
