AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING CERTAIN
PORTIONS OF CROOKED LANE IN THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE,
TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS; DECLARING THAT SUCH
PROPERTY IS UNNECESSARY FOR USE BY THE PUBLIC;
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE TO
EXECUTE QUIT CLAIM DEEDS RELEASING PUBLIC
OWNERSHIP, INTEREST AND CONTROL OF THESE RIGHT -
OF -WAY AND EASEMENTS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Southlake is a home rule city acting under its
charter adopted by the electorate pursuant to Article XI, Section 5 of the Texas
Constitution and Chapter 9 of the Local Government Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Southlake, after careful study
and consideration, has determined that certain portions of Crooked Lane in the
City of Southlake, are not being used by, nor useful or convenient to the public in
general; therefore, it constitutes a public charge without a correspondence
benefit, and the public would be better served and benefited by its vacation and
abandonment; and
WHEREAS, in order to remove any question as to the continued interest
or ownership of the public in said right -of -way, the City desires to execute a
quitclaim deed releasing all title, ownership, and control in said right -of -way to the
owners of the abutting property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1
The following right -of -way of Crooked Lane is hereby vacated and
abandoned as public property: Crooked Lane, a dedicated public street, more
specifically described in Exhibit A and shown on Exhibit B. Further, the franchise
utility companies have expressed no objection to the abandonment of said right -
of -way as recounted in Exhibit C. Exhibits A, B, and C are attached hereto and
incorporated herein for all purposes. The right -of -way is not being used by, nor
useful or convenient to the public in general. It constitutes a public charge
without a corresponding benefit, and the public would be better served and
benefited by its vacation and abandonment. The right -of -way so vacated and
abandoned shall revert in fee simple to the owners of the abutting properties.
SECTION 2
The Mayor of the City of Southlake, Texas, is hereby authorized and
empowered to execute a quitclaim deed releasing all claims to title, ownership, or
control of the right -of -way on the behalf of the City of Southlake, Texas.
SECTION 3
A copy of said quitclaim shall be presented for filling with the County Clerk
of Tarrant County, Texas by the office of the City Secretary.
SECTION 4
It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council that the
phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of this ordinance are
severable, and if any phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this
ordinance shall be declared unconstitutional by the valid judgement or decree of
any court of competent jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality shall not affect any of
the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of this
ordinance, since the same would have been enacted by the City Council without
the incorporation in this ordinance of any such unconstitutional phrase, clause,
sentence, paragraph or section.
SECTION 5
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
and it is so ordained.

DESCRIPTION OF A PORTION OF CROOKED LANE
RIGHT —OF —WAY TO BE ABANDONED
BEING a tract of land in the City of Southlake, Tarrant County, Texas, out of the Thomas
Easter Survey, Abstract 474, and being a portion of the existing right —of —way of Crooked
Lane; said portion being more particularly described, by metes and bounds, as follows:
BEGINNING at a 1/2" iron rod set for the west corner of all that certain Lot 1, Block 5,
Cornerstone Business Park, an addition to the City of Southlake, Texas, according to the plat
thereof recorded in Cabinet A, Slide 4010 of the Plat Records of Tarrant County, Texas; said
corner being in the northeast right —of —way line of South Nolen Drive, according to the plat
thereof recorded in Cabinet A, Slide 4010 of the Plat Records of Tarrant County, Texas;
THENCE N 37' 22' 11" W, with said right —of —way line, a distance of 68.38 feet, to the
southerly southwest corner of all that certain tract of land conveyed to Par -3 Properties,
according to the deed thereof recorded in Volume 15268, Page 292 of the Deed Records of
Tarrant County, Texas;
THENCE S 87' 48' 39" E, with the south line of said tract, and the existing right —of —way line
of Crooked Lane, a distance of 12.72 feet, to a 1/2" iron rod found for an angle point;
THENCE N 41` 39' 55" E, with the southeast line of said Par -3 Tract, and the existing
right —of —way line of Crooked Lane, a distance of 46.34 feet, to a 1/2" iron pipe found for
an angle point;
THENCE N 31' 18' 46" E, continuing with said southeast line, and existing right —of —way line,
at a distance of 115.88 feet, pass a 1/2" iron rod found in the .south line of all that certain
tract of land conveyed to Roger Glenn Williams, according to the deed thereof recorded in
Volume 11862, Page 1685 of the Deed Records of Tarrant County, Texas, and continue, in all
a distance of 251.19 feet, to a 1/2" iron rod found for angle point;
THENCE N 41° 57' 59" E, with said existing right —of —way line_ a distance of 86.00 feet, to a
1/2" iron pipe found for angle point;
THENCE N 46' 39' 49" E, with said existing right —of —way line, a distance of 47.29 feet, to a
1/2" iron rod found for the westerly southwest corner of a previously abandoned portion of
Crooked Lane, according to the deed thereof recorded in Volume 15485, Page 123 of the
Deed Records of Tarrant County, Texas;
THENCE S 35' 59' 58" E, with the south line of said previously abandoned right —of —way, a
distance of 18.29 feet, to a 1/2" iron rod found for corner;
THENCE S 53' 24' 22" W, with the south line of said previously abandoned right —of —way, a
distance of 36.80 feet, to a 1/2" iron rod found for corner;
THENCE N 87' 18' 28" E, continuing with the south line of said previously abandoned
right —of —way, a distance of 27.37 feet, to a 1/2" iron rod found for corner;

Texas; said corner also being in the existing southeasterly right —of —way line of Crooked Lane;
THENCE SOUTHWESTERLY, with said right —of —way line, curving to the left, having a radius of
