Spartan Sports is located at 280 Commerce Street, Suite 130. The 280 Sports building has several tenants providing a variety of indoor sports /entertainment activities, sports training, supporting ancillary retail services and a preschool. Since most tenants do not have frontage on the front (east) elevation of the building facing Commerce Street, a Conditional Sign Permit was approved in December 2008 to regulate signage on the east fagade. The Conditional Sign Permit allows a total of 10 attached signs on the front (east) side of the building in specified locations and limits the letter height of tenant signs to 18 inches. ACTION NEEDED The applicant is requesting to add another sign on the east elevation, which would result in a total of 11 attached signs on the east fagade. Specifically, the applicant is proposing to move the "280 Sports" sign higher on the fagade and install a "Spartan Sports" sign below it. The "Spartan Sports" sign matches the other tenant signs that are already installed on this elevation. The requested variance is as follows: Sign Regulation Current Regulation Proposed Regulation Number of Signs on East Elevation 10 Signs 11 Signs Consider variance request.
