Southlake Arts Council
Board Report — January 2011
Status Report
• Public Arts Master Plan - City Staff created an RFQ to hire an organization to provide a comprehensive
Arts Masterplan that will be integrated into the upcoming 2030 Masterplan. VIA Partnership, a national
leader in developing Public Arts Masterplans, was chosen. Work will begin in mid - January on the plan.
Art for Roundabouts The artists and art work have been selected and recommended by the Arts
Council. Upon City Council approval the artists will be under contract and the art should be placed in
the roundabouts in October or November of 2011.
• Art Display Policy An Arts Display Policy, which will allow exhibit control over art that is to be
placed in city facilities, is also in progress. The result will be a consistent, rational approach to the
placement of art and avoid arbitrary choices at all city facilities.
• Other late - breaking Southlake Arts Council News On display in the Town Hall lobby are grades K -8
art work from CISD through the end of January. Grades 9 -12 art work will be on display in March.
