Design and construct the pipeline to Department of Transportation regulations;
Install high-strength carbon steel pipe;
X-ray every weld that joins each section of pipe;
Bury the pipeline with adequate ground cover and identify with aboveground markers;
Participate in the One Call System
Hydrostatically test each section of pipeline at much higher pressures than the proposed operating pressure of the pipeline before putting it into service;
Test pressure will reach 5 times the Normal Operating Pressure
Use valves to allow sections of the pipeline to be isolated for maintenance or repair
if necessary;
Employ only experienced and qualified construction contractors and inspection personnel to perform and monitor all stages of construction.
