Item 6DCITY OF SOUTHLAKE Department of Planning & Development Services STAFF REPORT November 11, 2010 CASE NO: ZA10 -062 PROJECT: White's Chapel United Methodist Church Fence Addition EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: White's Chapel United Methodist Church is requesting approval of a Site Plan for the construction of a fence approximately 310 -feet in length along the northern boundary consisting of wrought iron and stone column combination on 23.3 acres located on the southeast corner of E. Southlake Boulevard (F.M. 1709) and S. White Chapel Boulevard at 185 S. White Chapel Boulevard. SPIN #9 DETAILS: White's Chapel United Methodist Church is requesting a linear fence along the approximately 310 -feet of its northern boundary with Southlake Boulevard (F.M. 1709). The applicant has indicated on the plans that the materials proposed are to be similar to the existing cemetery fencing with a mix of 6 -foot wrought iron and 7- foot stone columns. VARIANCE Architectural Fencing: The applicant is requesting a variance to Overlay Zones Section (43.9.c. 1.f) of the Zoning Ordinance No. 480, which requires that all fencing along F.M. 1709 shall not run in a straight line without being off -set by a minimum of six feet (6) every sixty feet (60'). In addition, the sub section requires that no fence shall be located any closer to the ROW than one half the width of the required bufferyard. For consistency purposes with the existing fence located at the cemetery, the applicant is requesting to keep the same straight line fencing along the property line.
