Background Information: The original concept for the Bicentennial Park, Phase I improvements included two (2) new batting cages. Due to resident noise concerns, the batting cages were relocated near four (4) existing batting cages and designed to match. Southlake Baseball Association would like to improve the new and existing batting cages with concrete surfaces, artificial turf and add electrical power. If approved, matching funds will be used to pay for half of the overall improvement cost ($84,538). Dean Construction, the Construction Manager at Risk on the Bicentennial Park Phase 1 project, will construct the batting cages as part of Phase 1. It is anticipated that the improvements will be complete by February 2011. Financial Considerations: Funding in the amount of $513,249 was included in the FY 2011 SPDC Matching Funds Budget. To date, $88,700 in FY 2011 SPDC Matching Funds have been allocated for the following projects: ■ $2,350 to Keep Southlake Beautiful for courtyard expansion in Liberty Garden (Oct. 5, 2010) ■ $25,000 to Southlake DPS Citizens Association for Safety Town (Oct. 5, 2010) — NOTE: Approval was City Council Meeting Date — November 2, 2010 Page 2 of 4 El I1r for $125,000, however, $100,000 of the approved amount was dependent on the receipt of a grant which has since been denied. ■ $61,350 to Southlake Senior Funding, Inc. for a bus (Oct. 5, 2010) With these allocations, $424,549 is currently available for matching funds projects. If the current request for $42,269 from SBA for batting cage improvements is granted, an unencumbered balance of $382,280 would remain in the FY 2011 Matching Funds budget.
