Item 4CSPIN Report Tuesday, November 9, 2004 The SPIN Standing Committee respectfully submits this written report in an effort to maintain communication flow between the Standing Committee and the City Council 1. SPIN Standing Committee Meeting — The next SPIN Standing Committee Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 11 at 6:30 p.m., Training Rooms #3a and #3b. 2. October SPIN Standing Committee Meeting Recap — The SPIN Standing Committee held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 12. Below is a summary of issues addressed at the meeting: • Discussion of Special Election to fill the position of Secretary — Due to the recent reappointments on the SPIN Executive Committee, Roger Hutton ( 911) has assumed the Chair position (moving from Vice - Chair), and Mike Terry ( #13) has assumed the duties of the Vice -Chair position (moving from Secretary). The Standing Committee elected Craig Rothmeier ( #9E) to assume the Secretary position. • Discussion of September 14, 2004 Regional Economic Forum - Speakers include Dr. Bernard Weinstein of the University of North Texas School of Community Services; Dr. John Baen of the University of North Texas College of Business Administration; Greg Last; and representatives from the Southlake Chamber of Commerce. • Discussion of Upcoming Regional Transportation Forum - The Regional Transportation Forum series will span 3 separate meetings to focus on the topics of highways, airports, and rail /mass transit. This first forum, scheduled for Monday, November 29, 2004, will highlight the highway mode. The Standing Committee, in absence of a full -time City staff liaison, has formed marketing and logistics subcommittees to coordinate the effort. 3. Recap of Recent SPIN Meetings — SPIN hosted the following meetings during the month of October: • Monday, October 4 — SPIN Citywide Forum. Topic: Proposed Grand Avenue Site Plan for Southlake Town Square. This meeting was held at 7:00 p.m. 4. Calendar of Events — There were no requests received for neighborhood meetings for the October 18 SPIN meeting date. • Monday, October 15, 2004 — SPIN Citywide Forum for Neighborhood 91 to discuss the development of the Bob Jones Nature Center located at 300 E. Bob Jones Rd. Southlake Town Hall, 7:00 p.m. training rooms 3c & 3d. • Monday, November 29, 2004 Regional Transportation Forum: Highways — Confirmed panelists are Tarrant County Commissioner Glen Whitley, City of Grapevine Public Works Director Jerry Hodge, and NCTCOG Senior Transportation Program Manager Dan Lamers. Justin Mecklenberg, Chair of the Southlake Chamber of Commerce, will serve as moderator.
