Through our contacts with the schools we have been able to get a number of students working on their community service hours. We also involved the local business community by receiving coupons for free food and services to give away to children who participate in the program. The Library had a booth for the July 3 rd program in Town Square in which we were able to display our banner and hand out info about the Library. We had balloons with the Southlake logo and a tagline for the Library and Community Services. We handed out over 700 balloons between 6 and 9:30 that evening — it turned out to be a marketing bonanza for the Library. Issues before the Board — Angelique York, Library Board Chair is in the process of moving out of Southlake, and has therefore stepped down from serving on the Library Board. Two currently serving members Peggy Firestone and C.D. Peebles will be returning for another term and we have added a new member Lori Burr. We will therefore swear in the returning members as well as Ms. Burr. We will also need to elect the new Library Board Chairperson at this meeting. Elizabeth Beamon will be speaking at our next meeting about how a Storytime is planned and implemented, in our continuing series of discussions about how a library operates and what goes into making things work.
