The Summer Reading Club program began June 1. We had anticipated anywhere from 800 to
1000 participants, and to this point we have had approximately 935. We are also including a

benefited from the involvement of citizens that felt it worthwhile to help out. Through our
contacts with the schools we have been able to get a number of students working on their
community service hours. We also involved the local business community by receiving

Issues before the Board — Angelique York, Library Board Chair is in the process of moving
out of Southlake, and has therefore stepped down from serving on the Library Board. Two
currently serving members Peggy Firestone and C.D. Peebles will be returning for another
term and we have added a new member Lori Burr. We will therefore swear in the returning
members as well as Ms. Burr. We will also need to elect the new Library Board Chairperson
at this meeting. Elizabeth Beamon will be speaking at our next meeting about how a
Storytime is planned and implemented, in our continuing series of discussions about how a
library operates and what goes into making things work.
