Item 7RESOLUTION NO. 04 -042 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, APPOINTING A CITY COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO THE JOINT DRUG AND ALCOHOL AWARENESS COMMITTEE TO FILL THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF REX POTTER; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the citizens of Southlake are confronted with the societal issue of drug and alcohol abuse among the youth of our community and desire to undertake a mutual effort to address this situation; and, WHEREAS, members are appointed from the following entities: one member from the City Council, appointed by the City Council; one member from the School Board, appointed by the School Board; one member from the community -at- large, appointed by the City Council; one member from the community -at- large, appointed by the Carroll ISD Board of Trustees; one member of the Mayor's Advisory Committee, appointed by the Committee; and one member from the Southlake Chamber of Commerce, appointed by the Chamber; and, WHEREAS, the unexpired term of Councilmember Rex Potter is vacant until May 2005 due to his resignation on June 15, 2004; now, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. All of the findings in the preamble are found to be true and correct and the City Council hereby incorporates said findings into the body of this resolution as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. The City Council hereby appoints the following person to the Joint Drug and Alcohol Awareness Committee: City Council representative term ends 5/2005 Section 3.
