Item 4CSPIN Report Tuesday, June 1, 2004 The SPIN Standing Committee respectfully submits this written report in an effort to maintain communication flow between the Standing Committee and the City Council Joint City Council / SPIN Standing Committee meeting — The second Joint City Council / SPIN Standing Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 8 2004 at 6:30 p.m. in Training Rooms #3c and 93d. A meeting packet will be provided to the City Council members later this week. 2. SPIN Standing Committee Meeting Recap — The SPIN Standing Committee held their monthly business meeting on May 11, 2004. Below is a summary of the issues addressed at the meeting: • SPIN Calendar of Events / Recab of Recent SPIN Events and Activities: Discussion of Potential for Increased Partnership with the Southlake Chamber of Commerce — Former SPIN #3 Representative Milan Georgia, now involved with the Chamber of Commerce, pitched the idea to the Standing Committee of finding appropriate ways for SPIN and the Chamber to partner in order to more effectively communicate with the community. The Standing Committee provided feedback on this idea, and was open to finding ways to partner that did not conflict with the mission of either organization; • Discussion of developing an increased awareness campaign for the SPIN Program am — this is a follow -up discussion on ways to increase community awareness of the SPIN Program in an effort to better communicate issues to the community and to connect the SPIN Logo with upcoming meetings and events; • Discussion of Town Hall Meeting on Wedensday, May — The Standing Committee reviewed final plans for the Town Hall Meeting with City Council; • Discussion of Reviewing the SPIN Ordinance — The Standing Committee directed Executive Committee to place this item on upcoming meeting agendas for the Standing Committee as whole to review parts of the Ordinance until completed; • Neighborhood Reports and Open Forum 3. Recap of Recent SPIN Meetings — The following events were held during the month of May: Monday, May 3 rd — SPIN Citywide Forum for Neighborhood #11 regarding the proposed Deep South Corporate Headquarters located at the SW Corner of Dove and State Highway 114 (Comments were distributed the week of May 7 and a copy of the meeting comments are posted on the SPIN Website); Monday, May 3 rd — SPIN Citywide Forum for Neighborhoods #7 and #8 regarding the proposed pet boarding facility located at the intersection of Crooked Lane and E. Carroll Avenue (Comments were distributed the week of May 21 and a copy of the meeting comments are posted on the SPIN Website); • Wednesday, May 19 — SPIN Town Hall Meeting — Meet the Mayor and City Council. The Standing Committee thanks you for your participation in this event. 4. Calendar of Events — Upcoming SPIN Meetings and Events for June are the following: • Monday, June 7 th — SPIN Citywide Forum for Neighborhood #7 — Topic Proposed zoning change for Cornerstone Business Park located on the east side of the 300 through 500 blocks of South Nolen Drive. 7:00 p.m. — Southlake Town Hall, Training Rooms #3a and #3b. • Monday, June 7 th — SPIN Citywide Forum for Neighborhood 95 — Topic Proposed Residential Development Concept located in the vicinity of Dove Road and N. White Chapel Blvd. 7:00 p.m. (or immediately following the presentation of the Cornerstone Business Park Project)— Southlake Town Hall, Training Rooms #3a and 93b.
