The SPIN Standing Committee respectfully submits this written report in an effort to maintain
communication flow between the Board and City Council
The SPIN Standing Committee held their last meeting on December 9, 2003. The Standing
Committee discussed the following items at their meeting:
• Director of Planning Bruce Payne provided an overview of the CIP Planning Process, and
Deputy Director of Public Works Charlie Thomas and Deputy Director of Community
Services Steve Polasek provided an overview of proposed Public Works and Community
Services Capital Projects, and status reports on projects in progress.
• The Standing Committee elected the 2004 Executive Committee, consisting of the
following members:
• Chair — Brandon Bledsoe ( #9e)
• Vice -Chair —Roger Hutton ( #11)
• Secretary —Mike Terry ( #13)
• Staff provided a preliminary listing of educational topics for 2004, the Standing
Committee members were going to speak with residents in their SPIN areas and further
develop the list at the January meeting.
• The Standing Committee agreed to jointly participate in a Spring Garden Tour with Keep
Southlake Beautiful. The preliminary plan is to host a tour of the Liberty Gardens and to
have a garden in each SPIN area for participants to visit. The preliminary timeline for
this event is April 2004.
The first Joint City Council / SPIN Standing Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday,
January 13 at 6:30 p.m. in training rooms #3c and #3d at Town Hall. The new Executive
Committee will hold their first meeting this week.
