Item 4CSouthlake Public Library Board Report — November 09, 2005 Added Services - The following services have been added over the last year: E- audiobooks - One no longer has to come to the library to get an audiobook. Audiobooks are some of the most high demand items in the library. The Southlake library now provides E- audiobooks that can be downloaded to your computer and then placed on an MP -3 player allowing you to listen just about anywhere. You no longer have to worry about losing a CD or a cassette or even coming to the library to check it out. You simply go to the library website at www.southlakelibrary.org and click on the button for E- audiobooks and it walks you through the process. There is a three week checkout period and one renewal. The Library is much more then just bricks and mortar. • AnswerZone — The library now provides "live chat" virtual reference services 24/7. Twenty four hours a day 7 days a week you can go to our website and connect with a person to answer a reference question on the net. Check out the library website and look for the AnswerZone and give it a try. Within a minute or two a real person will respond and work to get an answer to just about any question you can think of You can dress up and come into Town Hall and visit your library, or you can recline in your PJs and visit your library — we make it easy to do it either way. The library is always looking for new ways to provide services for the broader community and we are constantly looking into technical innovations to allow us to provide the best service possible in the library or at our customers homes — wherever they find most convenient to access us. However, we do not allow technical innovations to overtake our commitment to providing the best customer service possible — our motto being "uncommonly friendly service ". Visitor Stats • Checkouts The Library experienced a 105% increase in circulation year to date over a two year period. • Customer Visits The Library experienced a 50% increase in traffic year to date over the same period.
