Main Event
The number of participants grew slightly, but there was a 66% increase in the number of hours read this
year — thanks in the largest part to the prizes and coupons our sponsors provided as incentives to read
more.
• Back to School Bash The Library with Community Services had the Southlake Public Library's first
annual Back to School Bash @ the Gazebo in Town Square, and upwards of 450 people attended to
listen to the music of Eddie Coker a renowned musician of children's music. Awards for our Summer
Reading Club were given immediately prior to the concert. A great time was had by all.
Services
• DPS training materials in Library Library staff has worked with Lt. Barry Hinkle to provide a place
where training materials for DPS staff will be kept. The Library has an automation system that tracks
checkouts and sets specific dates for return, and even sends notices out if materials are overdue. The
library automation system and central location in Town Hall were offered by library staff to provide
more efficient service to our fine hardworking DPS personnel.
Visitor Stats
• Checkouts The Library experienced a 102% increase in circulation year to date over a two year period.
• Customer Visits The Library experienced a 46% increase in traffic year to date over the same period.
