SUBJECT: Resolution No. 05 -010, Appointments to the SPIN Standing Committee
Action Requested: City Council approval of Resolution No. 05 -010, appointing members to
the SPIN Standing Committee.
Background
Information: The SPIN Standing Committee representatives are appointed for staggered
two -year terms. At the end of 2004 there were five (5) vacancies, and the
Standing Committee made recruitment a major priority. This resolution
appoints eight (8) representatives to the Standing Committee. Five (5)
appointments are reappointments, and the other three (3) appointments fill
terms vacated by resignation.
There are still a couple of remaining vacancies (SPIN areas #6 & #14),
and the Standing Committee is focusing on how to better recruit in these
areas.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Southlake, Texas, established the Southlake
Program for the Involvement of Neighborhoods (SPIN) to provide a more available form of
resident participation in the affairs of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the SPIN Mission Statement is to provide a forum which fosters open and
timely communication between citizens of the City of Southlake and City Government regarding
programs, activities, and issues that affect the quality of life in the community and fosters a
stronger sense of community; and
WHEREAS, under Ordinance No. 598 -13, the City Council created the SPIN Standing
Committee to represent each of the designated SPIN neighborhoods with residents from each
SPIN area selecting a representative; and
WHEREAS, the City Council officially names the SPIN Standing Committee members
through a resolution after the SPIN area has selected a representative; now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS THAT:
Section 1. The following are hereby appointed as neighborhood representatives to the
SPIN Standing Committee for the remainder of the specified term:
