elevated water storage tanks at Bicentennial Park and at East Dove
Avenue and North White Chapel Boulevard.
Action
Requested: Authorize a contract with S & L Painting for the painting of two elevated
water storage tanks at Bicentennial Park and at East Dove Avenue and
North White Chapel Boulevard and approve a budget of $773,400.
Background
Information:
Financial
Considerations:
The FY06 Capital Improvements Programs (CIP) included a project to
paint two elevated storage tanks. The first tank is located at Bicentennial
Park and the second tank is located at the northeast corner of White
Chapel Blvd and Dove Rd.
The project was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on both
September 17 and September 24 2006. Bids were received and opened
at the office of the City Secretary on September 25, 2006 at 2:00 PM.
A summary of bids received for the project is as follows:
The funding approved in the FY06 CIP was $660,000. This estimate was
prepared approximately 2 years ago. The bid amount exceeds the CIP
budget by roughly 10 %. This is likely attributable to increased
construction costs over the last two years. Additional funds for the project
are available from unused funds in the Redundant Water Supply project
(CIP project 903UO 1 -0002).
The recommended action for approval of the project will include a 10%
contingency of $70,000 for a total approved budget of $773,400.
