Item 4A174 percent ofAmericans say that addiction to alcohol or drugs has had
some impact on them at some point in their lives, whether it was their
own personal addiction, that of a friend or family member, or any
other experience with addiction; and,
Whereas, stigma and discrimination present obstacles and can be a mark of disgrace to those
with substance abuse disorders who need access to treatment facilities, and for those who want
to reestablish their place in the community by entering the -workforce; and,
Whereas, educating our community about how substance abuse disorders affect children,
families, and all community members is essential to overcoming stigma and discrimination; and,
Whereas, we must recognise the achievement of those who seekout treatment services and
ensure that such services are readily available to those who need assistance; and,
Whereas, substance abuse disorders are a treatable, yet serious health care problem, and we can
take steps to address it and so build a stronger, healthier community; and,
Whereas, to help achieve this goal, the V.S. Department of .7fealth andYfuman Services, the
Substance Abuse andllental ifealthAdministration, the White Yfouse office of rational
Drug Controf Policy, and the Challenge Coalition, invite all residents of Tarrant County to
participate in j and DrugAddiction Recovery Month; and,
