Item 7QCity of Southlake Department of Planning STAFF REPORT August 30, 2006 CASE NO ZA06 -115 PROJECT: Specific Use Permit for a Mass Gathering Event — Southlake 50 Anniversary Celebrations REQUEST: In cooperation with Cooper & Stebbins, the City of Southlake is requesting approval of a specific use permit to allow a mass gathering event at Southlake Town Square, Phase One on Saturday, September 16, 2006 from 7:00 am to 11:30 pm. The mass gathering event is to celebrate the 50 Anniversary of the City of Southlake's incorporation. The request for the Specific Use Permit for a Mass Gathering event stems from a requirement in Section 45.14 of the city's Zoning Ordinance. A mass gathering event requires an SUP when more that 1,000 persons are expected to attend an event. Approximately 6,000 persons are expected to take part in the activities planned throughout the day. Attached with this memo (Attachment C) is a letter from the Director of Community Services describing the events and activities planned for the day. Although food, games, and concert activities are expected, no alcohol sales are planned. ACTION NEEDED: 1. Conduct a Public Hearing 2.
