clinical treatment and discovering a cure for Polycystic Kidney Disease;
and,
Whereas, Polycystic Kidney Disease is the most common, fife-threatening genetic disease,
affecting more than 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million peopCe worldwide — regardless of
gender, age, race or ethnic origin. Tolycystic Kidney Disease affects more peopCe than cystic
fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, hemophilia, down syndrome and sickle cell anemia combined and,
Whereas Vie Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation is devoted to promoting research to find
a treatment and cure for PKD and improving the care and treatment of those it affects. Viis
commitment must reflect support and responsibility at the local level, beginning with
individual families and communities, to ensure continued improvement in the quality of all
citizen's lives; and,
`fNhereas,e City of Southlake, Tex has an interest in the development and provision of
high quality services to children, youth and families who suffer from this disease. During the
Tolycystic Kidney DiseaseAwareness Month and beyond, the citizens from the City of
Southlake, will join together to recognise and further their commitment to reach a cure for
those affected by Tolycystic Kidney Disease; and,
