City of Southlake Department of Planning STAFF REPORT July 25, 2006 CASE NO: ZA06 -102 PROJECT: Revised Site Plan for Bicentennial Park REQUEST: The City of Southlake is requesting approval of a revised site plan to permit the addition of four (4) sports lighting poles for the basketball courts at Bicentennial Park. The proposed light poles are approximately 40' in height and are represented in Attachment C, Page 3. The basketball courts are located in the southern portion of the park, just west of the tennis courts. A variance to the City's Lighting Ordinance No. 695, as amended, is also being requested in conjunction with the revised site plan for the following: 1) Sec. 4(b) — Requires high pressure sodium type lighting (or similar lighting affect, soft amber colored light). Metal halide type lighting (bright white colored light) is requested. 2) Sec. 5(b) — Maximum permitted outdoor illumination of 20 foot candles. A maximum illumination of 53 foot candles is requested.
