Price as Director of Public Works Action Requested: City Council approval of the appointment of Robert H. Price as the Director of Public Works for the City of Southlake. Background Information: The Southlake Charter requires that "The head of each department shall be a chief, director or superintendent who sliall be appointed by the City Manager subject to the approval of the Council and such chief, director or superintendent shall have supervision and control over his department." Robert Price has served as assistant director of public works for the City of Grapevine for the past seven years. He has a total of 17 years municipal service experience. He has also spent just over six years working as a consulting engineer in the private sector. Mr. Price has a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A &M University. He also is a Texas licensed professional engineer. Mr. Price is a Past Chairman of the Texas State MATHCOUNTS Program, Past President of the Fort Worth Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and Past President of the Fort Worth/Tarrant County A &M Club. Mr. Price will bring to Southlake extensive public works and engineering experience and is familiar with this area and its engineering challenges. With your approval his appointment will be effective February 27, 2006, Financial Considerations: This position has been extended to Mr. Price with a monthly salary of $9,083, plus the standard executive benefit package.
