Item 4A1The Southlake Carroll Dragon Football Team is the epitome of a
team with a winning spirit and a tradition of championships that
resulted from a focus on teamwork and the mastery of the game of
football; and,
Whereas,
The Carroll Dragons successfully defended their 5A State Championship
title against the Katy Tigers at Texas Stadium in Irving on December 17, 2005, and
won the game with a score of 34-20, making it their third Class 5A Division II State
Championship in four years; and,
Whereas,
the team entered the 2005 Class 5A Division II state championship game
with a perfect 16-0 record under Head Coach Todd Dodge; and,
Whereas,
the Dragons, the top-ranked team in Texas, set a school record for 32
straight wins and a record of 63-1 over the past four seasons; and,
Whereas,
the Dragons were given the top ranking among high school football teams
in the nation by Prep-Nation’s National Prep Poll and Student Sports’ Fab 50; now,
Therefore,
I, Mayor Andy Wambsganss, on behalf of the City Council, in recognition
of the team’s outstanding performance and dedication, do hereby proclaim December
17, 2005, as
Carroll Dragons Day
