EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Details
City staff presented and requested feedback on the priority list for FY11 installation
of wayfinding signs commensurate with the Wayfinding Sign System Plan. Signs
along Carroll Ave between Southlake Blvd and SH 114 were identified by the
Wayfinding Sign Committee to be the highest priority, thus six signs along Carroll
Ave are proposed to be the first wayfinding signs installed in Southlake.
QUESTIONS / CONCERNS
• Are these signs lit?
o No, they are retro reflective
• Will we be utilizing these signs to advertise our city SPIN meetings?
o No, the SPIN Committee has made a recommendation for a more permanent
solution. We may want to incorporate similar design using the Urban Design
Plan to create a theme.
• What about local hospitals?
o The international "H" is used if the hospital has an emergency room
component. Specific hospitals are not a part of this program. These signs
will be used for shopping, schools, municipal buildings, hotel, etc.
• What about trees that are planted in the medians. What will happen if they obstruct
the view of these signs?
o Any trees that need to be removed will be transplanted.
