Background Information: With the recent approval of the Southlake Stampede public art exhibit the appearance of longhorn statutes within Southlake may soon become a reality. As presented at your April 4, 2006 meeting placement of longhorn cattle is anticipated at vendor locations throughout the City and in public parks. Currently, staff is proposing to authorize placement of the longhorns within Bicentennial Park, Bob Jones Park, Noble Oaks Park, and the parks within Town Square. The particular site placement within each park would be reviewed on an individual basis to account for site characteristics, visibility, aesthetics, and the security of the statues. Given the high profile nature of these locations within the community, staff is seeking council direction on locating the statues at the aforementioned sites, any additional park sites you may wish to consider, and any specific guidelines you may deem appropriate as it relates to their placement.
