Appoint two City Council Members to participate in the Bicentennial Park
SUBJECT:
Planning Work Group
Action Requested:
City Council appointment of two members to participate in the Bicentennial Park
Planning Work Group.
Background
Information:
The City Council recently approved entering into an agreement with the firm of
Schrickel, Rollins and Associates to perform professional planning services for
Bicentennial Park to include master planning and schematic design. The project is
intended to incorporate the undeveloped west side of the park, as well as the
existing developed east portions. Given the scope of the project, impact within the
community, and potential long term financial implications as it relates to
development, staff is seeking representation from the City Council on a planning
work group.
In addition to the proposal to seek Council participation, the Bicentennial Park
Planning Work Group will consists of three Parks Board members (Bobby Rawls,
Cara White, and John Slocum), two members from the Southlake Baseball
Association, and City staff. The purpose of the work group is to provide the
consultants with input during the planning and design process. In addition to the
work group, staff also anticipates the inclusion of stakeholder input through the
coordination of a public forum and specific user group meetings (ex. Southlake
Tennis Center, Safety Town, Liberty Garden).
