Item 4D Southlake Public Library Board Report – April 12, 2005 Services –  The Library is currently exploring the possibility of purchasing downloadable movies. We are currently speaking with several vendors – it would allow customers to download movies from the internet at home. We are looking at making music also available in a similar format to match up with the downloadable audio-books that we currently offer.  We are exploring the possibility of developing a pilot project to open a virtual library on the Sabre campus – allowing a portal to the city and library for Sabre staff. It is in the very initial stages, and would include space that Sabre would make available to us. Very preliminary at this stage – we are looking for every opportunity to better serve the community at large.  Library Administrator, Kerry McGeath was named to a special task force for the Texas State Library and Archives Commission by the State Librarian, Peggy Rudd, to review direct state aid to libraries. th  The Library is taking part in the Barnes and Noble Grand opening on April 18. We are to receive a cash grant from Barnes and Noble equaling 10% of their sales for the grand opening event. Maria Cameron the Youth Librarian will be cutting the ribbon in the Youth section, and Elizabeth Beamon will be telling stories to the youth after the ribbon cutting Any questions please contact Kerry McGeath (8384) Visitor Stats:  Checkouts: The Library experienced a 20% in circulation year to date over last year.  Customer Visits: The Library experienced a 15% increase in traffic year to date over the same period.
