Item 4CCity of Southlake, Texas M E M O R A N D U M November 14, 2007 TO: Shana Yelverton, City Manager FROM: Alison Ortowski, Assistant to the City Manager Resolution No. 07-062, Appointments to the SPIN Standing Committee SUBJECT: Action Requested : City Council approval of Resolution No. 07-062, appointing members to the SPIN Standing Committee. Background Information : The SPIN Standing Committee representatives are appointed for staggered two-year terms. At the end of 2007, the terms of all the odd numbered SPIN positions expire. This resolution reappoints seven (7) representatives to the Standing Committee for two year terms expiring December 2009. To fill a vacancy in SPIN #7, this resolution also reappoints the current Youth Representative as the representative for SPIN #7. A new youth representative will be brought forth for appointment at a later date. The SPIN #1 position is currently vacant and a representative for this district has not yet been located. RESOLUTION NO. 07-062 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF NEIGHBORHOOD REPRESENTATIVES TO THE STANDING COMMITTEE OF THE SOUTHLAKE PROGRAM FOR THE INVOLVEMENT OF NEIGHBORHOODS (SPIN); PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Southlake, Texas, established the Southlake Program for the Involvement of Neighborhoods (SPIN) to provide a more available form of resident participation in the affairs of the City Council; and WHEREAS , the SPIN Mission Statement is to provide a forum which fosters open and timely communication between citizens of the City of Southlake and City Government regarding programs, activities, and issues that affect the quality of life in the community and fosters a stronger sense of community; and WHEREAS , under Ordinance No. 598-B, the City Council created the SPIN Standing Committee to represent each of the designated SPIN neighborhoods with residents from each SPIN area selecting a representative; and WHEREAS , the City Council officially names the SPIN Standing Committee members through a resolution after the SPIN area has selected a representative; now THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS THAT : Section 1. The following are hereby appointed as neighborhood representatives to the SPIN Standing Committee for the remainder of the specified term: SPIN Area #3 Through December 2009 Alan Hochstein SPIN Area #5 Through December 2009 Jan Francis SPIN Area #7 Through December 2009 Eric Wang SPIN Area #9E Through December 2009 Ray Tremain SPIN Area #9W Through December 2009 Jim Jeppe SPIN Area #11 Through December 2009 Bob Gray SPIN Area #13 Through December 2009 Mike Terry SPIN Area #15 Through December 2009 Tom Corradino Section 2 .
