Hi Alison,
Richard Schell gave me your e -mail and said you could direct us as to whether a SPIN meeting was necessary for our sh
structure installation project at Johnson Elementary. I've forwarded the communication regarding our project, with
attachments. Johnson Elementary was the recipient of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Shade Structure!
of $8000. Our PTO has approved an additional $9000 for the purchase of a large 40x40 shade structure to cover an exist
playground system on the playground on the east side of the campus (current green/tan/orange play system near the decl
area surrounding the tree) and a single pole shade structure for a teacher shade area in the middle of the playground area
the school. Richard stated that it was more realistic for a Spring Break installation- week of March 14th.
Please let me know if a SPIN meeting is necessary and what action is necessary.
Thanks,
Gina Bunnell

Good morning,
2
Johnson Elementary was the recipient of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Shade Structure grant of $800
PTO has approved an additional $9000 for the purchase of a large 40x40 shade structure to cover an existing playgroun(
system (current green/tan/orange play system near the decked area surrounding the tree) and a single pole shade structui
a teacher shade area in the middle of the playground area of the school.
Attached is the quote and specifications from the company we have received the best prices and best service. I have
forwarded this information on to the AAD to make sure their shade fabric meets their specifications to receive the grant,
My understanding is the next step is to get a permit from the City of Southlake and drawings outlining the specific areas
shaded. Mr. Schell gave me information regarding the cost of a permit. From our meeting with the shade structure comp
they can have renderings from an on -line mapping service where the shade structures are generally plotted in the area w
wanting the shade structures. The company says this will take a couple of weeks and then after a deposit is paid the shac
structure company will provide the actual architectual drawings- another couple of weeks. The other option is to pay a d
without the general renderings and go straight to the architectural drawings.
This project is my limited exposure to this process, so I am hoping for some guidance to expedite this much - anticipated
structure as efficiently and effectively as possible. To meet the requirements set by the AAD, we must have the shade
structure installed by July. We are hoping to have it all installed during Spring Break or even Winter Break if at all poss
I look forward to your guidance!
Thanks,
Gina Bunnell

Gina and Cathy,
It was a pleasure meeting with you this afternoon. Superior Shade's timeline once we receive the order and deposit is 2
weeks for Sealed Engineered Drawings. The shade structures will follow in 2 -4 additional weeks. At this time we coup
install the shades during the Winter break if you are able to obtain the permits in time. I have attached a revised quote a
shade cloth specifications with the UV Block Percentages. Here are some references of local jobs we have completed.
