`fNfiereas, Polycystic Kidney Disease is one of the most common, fife -threatening genetic
disease, affecting more than 12.5 million peopCe worldwide — regardless of gender, age, race or
ethnic origin. Polycystic Kidney Disease affects more peopCe than cystic fibrosis, muscular
dystrophy, Downs syndrome andsicfe cellanemia combined and,
` fiiereas, the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation is a volunteer -driven organisation that
helps coordinate and run each and every Wafk for PKD event. Because of this, more than 89
cents of every dollargoes directly toward patient education and research. qTie event
commitment reflects support and responsibility at the locallevel, beginning with individual
families and communities, to ensure continued improvement in the quality of all citizen's lives;

Wfiereas, the City of Southlake has an interest in the development and provision of high
quality services to children, youth and families who suffer from this disease. During the
Polycystic Kidney DiseaseAwareness Month and beyond, the citi ens from the City of
Southlake wiCCjoin together to recognise and further their commitment to reach a cure for those
affected by Polycystic Kidney Disease; now,
