Item 6BCity of Southlake Department of Planning & Development Services S T A F F R E P O R T June 13, 2007 ZA07-051 CASE NO: Revised Site Plan for Bicentennial Park to include Safety Town PROJECT: REQUEST: The City of Southlake is requesting approval of a revised site plan for Bicentennial Park to add Safety Town. Sponsored by the Southlake Department of Public Safety Citizens Association, Safety Town is designed to introduce and teach young children various aspects of life safety with curriculum developed by the National Safety Town Center. The project involves a small scale reconstruction of a few city blocks – a public square surrounded by buildings for the purpose of safety education. Safety Town will be located in Bicentennial Park, currently zoned CS, Community Service zoning district. This item is being brought before the City Council to seek approval of the revised site plan for the placement of the facility within Bicentennial Park as approved in the 2005 Parks Master Plan Update, and as an element of the schematic design of Bicentennial Park approved by City Council at their February 6, 2007 meeting.
