The Southlake Public Library Summer Reading Club for youth is quickly coming upon us. Have
your children read for prizes and they keep their reading skills sharp through the entire summer. The
summer will be packed with performers and craft projects. Join us for the excitement and participate
in this years Summer Reading Club. Call for more information 817-748-8243. This year for the first
time we will also be having a Summer Reading Club for adults – win prizes for reading. Summer
Reading Club programs run from June 4 to August 18. Over 1,500 children participated last year.
Following the completion of most of the exterior work on the new Robb and Stuckey store in Town
Square the library will be placing a bookdrop by the West parking garage in order to allow citizens
to drop of their materials from the convenience of their very own automobiles, resolving one of our
top complaints related to accessibility of the current bookdrops.
The library will be displaying art from each of the Carroll School District campuses through the first
of June. CISD received a grant for museum quality panels to display art in various locations. The
library will be the first site for what will become a rotating exhibit throughout Southlake. Staff
continues to be excited about the excellent works of art that have been exhibited thus far
The library will be working with the Bob Jones Nature Center (BJNC) as the location for the Nature
Center Photo contest reception and awards program that will occur later in June. Staff is also
working closely with BJNC to develop a series of children’s programs through the spring and
summer to promote the upcoming opening of the Nature Center.
The Southlake Public Library will hold an “appreciation day” at the Barnes & Noble in the
thth
Southlake Town Square on May 11 and 12 . Flyers and vouchers will be available for pick up at
the library and at several different city locations. Simply present a voucher at the register and a
percentage of the net sale will be donated to the library. Library staff including our very own Jesse
will be doing storytimes and crafts at Barnes and Noble on Saturday May 11.
