Item 9DCity of Southlake Department of Planning & Development Services S T A F F R E P O R T April 25, 2007 SP 07-127 CASE NO: Sign Variance for Pavilion Plaza PROJECT: REQUEST: This is a variance request from the Sign Ordinance No. 704-C regulations for attached signs at Pavilion Plaza. The subject property is located at 1959 West Southlake Boulevard in the Players Circle development. The purpose of the variance is to allow attached signs on the western elevation (the rear side) of the building to allow visibility from eastbound Southlake Boulevard traffic. Under the ordinance, attached signs are not allowed on the western elevation because the elevation does not front on a street or drive. Although there is a driveway in proximity to the rear of the building, it is a service driveway for the adjacent Southlake Marketplace development for which this site does not appear to have rights of access. The applicant is proposing one sign per tenant on the western elevation and a maximum letter height of 14 inches for each western elevation sign. The specific variance requested is as follows: Sign Regulation Current Regulation Proposed Regulation Placement of attached Only permitted on an elevation Allow signs on the signs facing a street or drive western elevation ACTION NEEDED: Consider variance request.
