Our letter height of 24” was fine then, however, the formula for figuring the maximum square footage of the sign was extremely restrictive, hence the variance. th As of January 25, 2007 we have moved 300’ to the Pavilion Plaza. In the meantime, a new sign ordnance has been adopted. While our existing sign does meet the area requirements of the new ordnance, the letter height permitted is 16”. I would ask the members of the Board to allow me to utilize my current signage at our new location in Pavilion Plaza, otherwise I shall have to build a completely new and smaller sign. The owner of the property and I believe the current sign would be a tasteful, welcome addition to Pavilion Plaza and aid the residents of Southlake in locating their local scuba diving store in a timely and safe manner. The owner of Pavilion Plaza has given me written permission to utilize the existing sign pending approval by the City. My feeling is that persons traveling westbound on Southlake Boulevard would appreciate its slightly larger height as the angle of the front of the building to the road is not exactly ideal. Were the sign any smaller, citizens might spend more time trying to read the sign and less attention to the traffic to their immediate front. Within the bounds of good taste, I’d like to make it as easy as possible for the citizens of Southlake to find their only scuba shop. I believe my current signage addresses these concerns. Thank you for your consideration, Kevin Harmon Atlantis Scuba LLC Case No. Attachment F SP 07-046Page 1
