Background
Information:
The FY 2006-2007 Parks and Recreation Division Budget contains a
line item amount of $181,900 for contract mowing and landscape
maintenance within the City to include Town Square, City facilities, and
right-of-way mowing. The annual contract for City facilities
maintenance includes mowing, edging, fertilization, aeration, seasonal
color, clean-up, irrigation, and tree, shrub, and groundcover maintenance
for the following locations: DPS East and West, Community Services
Building, Senior Center, Tennis Center, Public Works Operations, and
landscaped medians and portals. The Right-of-Ways Mowing Contract
includes mowing, weedeating, litter pick-up and clean-up of right-of-
ways from March through November annually. The combined contract
amounts total $90,963.79.
TruGreen LandCare was originally awarded the mowing contract for
the City right-of-ways in March of 2006, and for the landscape
maintenance of City facilities in April of 2006. Both contracts are for
one year ending December 31, 2006, and provide the option for four (4)
one year renewals. Staff contacted TruGreen LandCare regarding their
interest in renewing the contract for a second year pending Council
approval. TruGreen LandCare has expressed a desire to renew and
indicated they would not be requesting an increase in the contract
amounts for the upcoming year.
Financial
Consideration:
The fiscal year 2006-07 budget allocates $181,900 for contract mowing
and landscape maintenance within the City, of which $101,050 was
programmed for the services included in these proposed contracts. Tru-
Green submitted a combined cost of $90,963.79 for both existing
contract areas representing no increase from the current price.
