Sign Variance for Gateway Church – temporary development signs
PROJECT:
REQUEST: Gateway Church currently has two (2) temporary development signs for their new
church site located at 700 Blessed Way. The sign located along E. SH 114 was
approved by variance October 21, 2008 allowing for a larger than permitted sign;
being 8 x 14 feet and not to exceed 112 square feet in area. The approval for the
duration of this sign expired July 31, 2010. The applicant is requesting to extend this
variance request as well as change the existing sign face. The issuance of certificate
of occupancy is anticipated for late October, 2010.The specific details are as follows:

Gateway Church is also requesting an extension for the duration of the existing
temporary development sign located along N. Kimball Avenue. The issuance of
certificate of occupancy is anticipated for late October, 2010. This sign is currently in
compliance with the sign ordinance. The applicant is also requesting to change this
existing sign face. The specific details are as follows:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
OWNER/APPLICANT: Gateway Church
PROPERTY SITUATION: The property is located along the north side of State Highway 114, between
North Carroll Avenue and North Kimball Avenue.
HISTORY: October 21, 2008; City Council approved sign variance request SP08-294,
specifying there will be one sign on State Highway 114 being 8 feet by 14
feet with a total square footage not to exceed 112 square feet and
requiring it to be removed by July 31, 2010 or upon completion of the entry
features and the associated signage whichever is earlier; understanding
there will be some shrubbery placed at the base of the sign as described
by and agreed to by the applicant; understanding that the applicant has
offered to work to prevent additional, extraneous signage that may appear
by way of contractors and will marshal trucks and trailers to the back side
of the property and keep them away from State Highway 114; and stating
that the sign on North Kimball Avenue will comply with the ordinance.
