Ortowski, Assistant to the City Manager Subject: FY 2011 Ordinance and Project Priority Schedule Action Requested: Adopt the FY 2011 Ordinance and ProjectPriority Schedule Background Information: During the course of the fiscal year, department directors are responsible for managing many projects and priorities. Many of these items require Council review. Our challenge is to ensure that these projects andpriorities are developed in a high quality manner and that we manage them through the review and approval process in a way that ensures adequate staff and public input, as well as sufficient review time for Council members. In a busy city like Southlake, it becomes important to prioritize items since everything cannot be accomplished at once. WorkSession topics and ordinances are a particularly important element of City Council packet and agenda management. This packet contains our plan for addressing WorkSession topics and ordinance needs in FY 2011.Please note that: Identified ordinance projects have been grouped by quarters of the fiscal year. Note that we are already working on some FY 2011Q1 projects which is why you have already seen some of these items; Schedules have been set based on a number of factors including: the need for advisory committee review, expected preparation time, and agenda loads; We have made Council meeting agendas a priority as we have developed this scheduleand have taken into consideration the meeting management principles that Council recently adopted; Financial Considerations: None Strategic Link: B4 Provide high quality customer service; B5 Improve performance of delivery and operational processes Citizen Input/ FY 2011 Ordinance and Project Priority Schedule Page 2of 2 Board Review: N/A Legal Review: N/A Alternatives: Alter schedule as council desires.
