Item 4H AudioCity council members, item 4H on the consent agenda if for the approval of Change Order No. 4 with Circle C Construction in the amount of $62,551.41 for a 30-inch water line on TW King. 1 The construction of the water line and paving improvements links to the City’s strategy map relative to the focus areas of Infrastructure and Performance Management and Service Delivery. The specific corporate objectives that are met include Providing high quality customer service and investing to provide and maintain high quality public assets. 2 This slide shows the location of the 30 inch water line from the intersection of Pearson Lane and Florence Road to the TW King pump station on the north side of town. Once constructed this line will serve as an additional water source to the pump station. 3 This map shows the location of Segment A along Florence Road which has been completed as a part of this project. 4 This map shows Segment F from Hwy 114 to the TW King Pump Station. This line is also completed. Segments A and F were common to both potential routes and therefore the City moved forward with construction on these two segments. 5 The constructed contract was awarded by City Council in March of 2009 in the amount of $2,635, 235 dollars with 10 percent contingencies for a total project budget of $2,898,800.00 In June of 2009, Change order no 1 was approved by the City Manager’s office in the amount of $400 dollars. This change order included the elimination of a 12 inch gate valve and added a 12 inch tapping sleeve and valve to allow the 12 inch water line to stay in service during the construction. 6 In December of 2009, Change order no 2 was approved by the City Manager’s office. This change order decreased the contract amount by $152,466.80 and included a change in the scope of the project to revise the original pavement reconstruction design to maintain the current width of the roadway. Widening the road the additional 2 feet as proposed in the original plans would have resulted in steeper borrow ditches along the road which would have not allowed the property owners to maintain the slopes without greater difficulty. In March of 2010, change order no 3 was approved by the City manager’s office in the amount of $30,007.50 for driveway approach repairs as a result of grade elevation changes. 7 Construction is now complete for the 30-inch water line Segments A and F as well as the paving activities along Florence Road and TW King Road. Change order 4 includes the reconciliation of the actual bid item quantities. These quantities include additional driveway approach repairs, bock sod, and paving quantities. 8 The result of the 4 change orders is actually a decrease in the original contract amount by $59,507.89 and the revised total contract amount of $2,575,727.11 is under the approved project budget. 9 Staff recommends that council approve change order no 4 with Circle C construction in the amount of $62,551.41 for a 30-inch water line on TW King. 10 Please contact Bob Price at 817-748-8097 with any questions. 11
