Road Intersection and Drainage Improvements in the amount of
$44,752.00 for sidewalks along North White Chapel Blvd.
Background
Information: The contract for the Dove Road Intersection and Drainage
Improvement project was awarded to Quality Excavation, Ltd. in
April, 2009 for the construction of roundabouts at Dove and North
Carroll Avenue and at Dove and North White Chapel Blvd.
Change Order No. 6 is for the addition of an 8' sidewalk along
North White Chapel Blvd. in accordance with the Master Pathways
Plan from the north property line of the Dove Water tower to
connect to the sidewalk of the new elementary school currently
under construction. This addition of an 8' sidewalk is a change in
the scope of the original project. This segment of sidewalk has not
been on the City Council's previous sidewalk priority list; however,
is proposed to be included in the FY 2011 Pathway Priority List.
The contractor has provided an attractive price to construct this
sidewalk that will be needed prior to the opening of the proposed
Southlake Elementary School located on N. White Chapel Blvd.
Construction of the sidewalk will begin immediately and will be
completed with the Dove and White Chapel Roundabout
Improvement Project.
Financial
Considerations: The total amount of Change Order No. 6 to the existing contract is
$44,752.00. This will increase the total contract amount to
$3,514,154.27. Funds for construction of the sidewalks are
currently available in the CIP Sidewalks Account 209499-598804-
R0005.

Strategic Link: The construction of the roundabout at the intersection of North
White Chapel Boulevard and Dove Road Continental Boulevard
and the additional 8' sidewalk links to the city's strategy map
relative to the focus areas of Mobility, Infrastructure, and
Performance Management and Service Delivery. The specific
corporate objectives that are met by this construction project
include: Providing high quality customer service; Investing to
provide and maintain high quality public assets; and Providing
travel convenience within city and region.

Legal Review: This is the Change Order form that has been previously reviewed
by the City Attorney.
Alternatives: The City Council may approve Change Order No. 6 or deny it.

Schedule: Construction of the intersection is now complete and will be
followed immediately with landscaping and irrigation improvements.
