Standing Committee Meeting
Tuesday
The SPIN Standing Committee will meet next Tuesday,
October 12 The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be
held in Town Hall — 3 rd Floor Training Rooms. The agenda
and packet are attached.
If you take a look at the agenda, you will notice that it looks a
bit different than what you normally see. The Executive
Committee has worked hard to put together an evening that
will not only be helpful for SPIN going forward but will also
be FUN!
There is not time on the agenda for verbal neighborhood
reports this month, so if you have something you would like
to report, please email me prior to the meeting and I will put
everything into a written report for the group.
Please RSVP by Monday at noon. I hope you all can make
it — I think it will be a great meeting.
Have a great weekend - Alison

FY 2011 Budget Adopted
At the September 21 City Council meeting, The Southlake
City Council adopted the FY 2011 budget. The budget was
approved unanimously after a presentation by Assistant City
Manager Ben Thatcher.
At the September 7th meeting, Finance Director Sharen
Jackson provided an overview to the Council emphasizing
the City's fiscal health, strategic investments and
sustainability.
The City's fiscal health is considered through objective
criterions including, true costs of doing business, spending
within the City's needs, establishing and maintain reserves
among others.
Strategic investments include the priority investments of the
Council and the Community as well as the City's employees
whom Jackson called " a critical component to providing the
services our City wants and needs."
Sustainability addresses the question, how do today's
decisions impact tomorrow's budget. Jackson also focused
on the City's need to consider economic impacts such as
economic indicators, labor, consumer spending and housing
and commercial growth.
The $70 million budget proposes general fund expenses of
$30.7 million and an unchanged tax rate of $0.462.
For more information on the FY 2011 budget, please visit the
