From:

Subject: Approve park naming of Bob Jones Nature Center and
Preserve
Action
Requested:
City Council review and approval to rename the nature
center the Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve.
Background
Information:
The new name of the nature center with the designation as a
“preserve” provides a better depiction of the role of the
center in the community. The mission of the Bob Jones
Nature Center is to:
provide places of quiet recreation that promotes
respect for all forms of life,
foster learning experiences about the North Texas
natural environment,
engender an enduring sense of community and its
natural history, and
preserve our natural resources
Effective February 18, 1996, the City adopted a procedure
for naming or renaming park facilities. The Naming and
Renaming of Park Facilities Procedures establishes the
parameters for naming of City park facilities. A copy is
attached to this memo for your review. The new name, Bob
Jones Nature Center and Preserve, is in line with the City’s
procedure.
If approved, the name will be incorporated into future
revisions of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master
Plan as well as the Southlake 2025 Plan.
