Item 9A Department of Planning & Development Services S T A F F R E P O R T June 11, 2008 SP 06-362A CASE NO: Sign Variance for Bicentennial Retail Plaza PROJECT: REQUEST: Bicentennial Retail Plaza, L.P. is requesting final approval for two multi-tenant monument signs for Bicentennial Retail Plaza. The subject property is located at the northeast corner of Bicentennial Drive and West Southlake Boulevard and the address is 410 West Southlake Boulevard. In September 2006, City Council considered variances for the subject property for maximum letter height for attached signs, minimum distance between monument signs, and minimum setback for monument signs. However, the monument sign design was not submitted with the original variance application. The variances were approved with the stipulation that the final design of the monument signs be brought back for City Council approval. The applicant is now seeking approval of the monument sign design. The proposed signs comply with the size and design regulations of the Sign Ordinance No. 704, as amended. September 5, 2006 HISTORY: City Council granted the three requested variances (shown in the table below) by a 6-0 vote, but noting that other than the variance on the letter heights, the attached signage will meet all other regulations of the existing requiring the monument signs to be brought back to sign ordinance; City Council for approval ; and keeping some uniformity of fonts and colors. The proposed sign design is consistent with this request.
