Sign Variance for Ethan Allen
PROJECT:
REQUEST: Ann K. Creighton, on behalf of Ethan Allen Global, Inc., is requesting a variance to the
Sign Ordinance No. 704-C requirements for attached signs. Ethan Allen is located at
2171 East Southlake Boulevard. The applicant is requesting a total of four signs on
the building: two on the north elevation facing East Southlake Boulevard, one on the
east elevation, and one on the west elevation. Under Sign Ordinance No. 704-C, only
one sign is allowed per street/drive frontage with a maximum of two signs per
building/lease space. In addition, the applicant is requesting a maximum letter height
of 36 inches and a sign width of 31 feet 1.75 inches for the larger sign on the north
elevation. Under Sign Ordinance No. 704-C, the maximum letter height allowed is 20.5
inches and the maximum sign width is 26.25 feet.
The specific variances requested are as follows:

PROPERTY SITUATION: The property address is 2171 East Southlake Boulevard.
STAFF COMMENTS: The sign criteria, site plan and application are attached to this report.
HISTORY: On August 1, 2006, City Council approved the second reading for the zoning
change and site plan (Case ZA06-040) for Ethan Allen. The motion stated
that there will be no signage or logo on the awnings.
