CASE NO:
Sign Variance for Rugs N Floors
PROJECT:
REQUEST: Rugs N Floors is requesting a variance to the Gateway Plaza Phase I Conditional Sign
Permit regulations regarding the number of attached signs allowed. Rugs N Floors is
located at 2960 East Southlake Boulevard, Suites 140 and 150. The business recently
changed from selling area rugs to selling area rugs and flooring. In addition, the store
physically expanded by combining the original lease space (Suite 140) with the
adjacent lease space (Suite 150), which more than doubled the store’s floor area.
Rugs N Floors currently has one sign that says “RUGS” and the applicant is requesting
a second sign on the storefront that says “FLOORS”. The Gateway Plaza Phase I
Conditional Sign Permit defers to the sign ordinance regarding number of signs, and
Sign Ordinance No. 704-C allows one sign per street frontage per tenant with a
maximum of two signs total.
The specific variance requested is as follows:
Sign Regulation Current Regulation Proposed Sign
Number of Signs One per street frontage; Two per street frontage; two
two total total
ACTION NEEDED: Consider variance request.
