Census Bureau: Continues to collect data year round, every year for a variety of surveys such as the American Community Survey and produces monthly data products for all communities

Data Set I
- Released to President no later than 12/31/10; released via
American Fact Finder (AFF) shortly thereafter
- Includes US resident and overseas population as well as
state level data
Data Set II
- Released February-March 2011; released via AFF soon after
- Redistricting data sent to states on DVD per public law
- Data includes Hispanic/Latino data for states down to block
level
- Occupancy status (vacancy, occupied) for states down to
block level
Decennial Data Releases (I and II)
Data Set III
- Released between June and August 2011; released via AFF
shortly thereafter
- Highlights include detailed race information; group quarters
population; information on families; unmarried partner
households; number of housing units; age and gender
Data Set IV
- Released between December 2011 and April 2012
- Includes iterations by race and Hispanic origins

What is the American Community Survey?
A large, continuous demographic survey
Produces annual estimates of the characteristics of the population and housing
Produces characteristics, not a population count
Produces information for small areas including census tracts and population subgroups - updated every year
