Item 6GItem 6G Ordinance 585-D – 2nd Reading to Amend the City’s Tree Preservation Ordinance Amendment to the Tree Preservation Ordinance 585-D The purpose of the amendments are to comply with the National Arbor Day Foundation’s requirements to remain eligible the Tree City USA designation and require installation and inspection of tree protection fencing prior to the issuance of a permit. Establishes the City as the administrator of trees and vegetation on public property Revises standards for the pruning of trees Makes it unlawful to perform “topping” of trees Requires the installation of tree preservation fencing prior to the issuance of a building or earth disturbance permit. Requires the following to be clearly posted at each entrance: 1) Tree Protection Sign; 2) Tree preservation installation detail sheet; and 3) Approved tree conservation plan
