Recommended FY 2007 Sidewalk Projects Draft Sidewalk Plan An Element of the Southlake 2025 Plan Purpose of the Plan Improve pedestrian access to the city’s major destinations: Schools Parks Neighborhoods Retail & Office Addresses the link between the trail network and individual properties to create a seamless pedestrian system from front doors to destinations Other Elements of the Plan Safe Routes to School Plan Safety and Education Maintenance and operations Cul-de-sac connector policy Commercial Policies Neighborhood Matching Funds Recommended Sidewalk Priorities City staff held a sidewalk workshop in August of 2006 to identify key pedestrian issues throughout the city Developed a set of criteria for sidewalk prioritization Identified several sidewalk segments to be ranked based on the identified criteria Ranking Criteria Proximity to schools within ¼ of a mile of a missing link Proximity to parks Proximity to a future trail identified in the Pathways Plan Proximity to other destinations Adjacency to roadways Field Inventory--Existing Conditions Arterials – F.M. 1709 & 1938 Challenges to Pedestrian Access Existing Conditions Carroll & Kimball Avenues Residential Streets Challenges to Pedestrian Access Challenges to Pedestrian Access Priority List All identified segments (total of over 100) were weighted and ranked based on the established criteria Immediate priority to segments that are short and link existing segments at various locations (200 – 400 feet) Several such segments will be funded through this year’s CIP Unfunded segments will be re-evaluated annually for funding in future year CIP’s Recommended Priority Segments for FY 07-08 Recommended Priority Listing Sub Total $59,000 Sub total Grand Total Questions?
