Status Update – April 5, 2007
Background
City Council adopted the Southlake 2025 Plan as follows:
Phase 1: Vision, Goals, and Objectives in March 2004
Phase 2: Area Plans from December 2004 – May 2005
Phase 2: Consolidated Plans
Consolidated Mobility & Master Thoroughfare Plan – July 2005
Consolidated Land Use Plan – August 2005
Parks, Recreation, & Open Space Plan – September 2005
Pathways Plan – September 2005

Land Use (Items A1 through A12)
Creation of new zoning districts to reflect the newly created land use categories
Review development proposals and implemented design criteria based on recommendations in the Southlake 2025 Plan
Pedestrian Connectivity (Items B1 through B8)
Prioritize pedestrian connectivity
Funding (Strategic initiative funds)
Amended to zoning & subdivision regulations to require sidewalks for all development
Develop an interconnected system for non-motorized mobility
Review development proposals to maximize pedestrian connectivity
Development of a Sidewalk Plan currently underway
Environmental Resource Protection (C1 through C6)
Encourage key environmental resources as identified in the city’s Environmental Resource Protection Map
Review development proposals to implement ERP recommendations
Amended the city’s Tree Preservation Ordinance to implement this recommendation

Encourage the redevelopment of key underutilized sites
Urban Design(E1 through E8)
Establish a consistent design theme for the city’s major roadway corridors
Prioritize the undertaking of a median study for F.M. 1709
Urban Design/Median study currently underway
Strategic Initiative fund monies identified for implementing the plan
Parks & Open Space(F1 through F6)
Explore opportunities for non-motorized and passive recreational uses along Lake Grapevine
Transportation & Public Safety(G1 through G12)
Evaluate the feasibility of traffic control devices at Highland Ave. and White Chapel Blvd; Carroll Ave. and Dove Street; and White Chapel and Continental
Roundabout design is currently under with funding identified in the CIP
Evaluate the future redevelopment of the northwest corner of the intersection of S.H. 26 and Brumlow Ave. as a transit node
Study currently underway with NCTCOG on the future commuter rail line along the Cottonbelt railway corridor
Street Connectivity
Encourage automobile and pedestrian connectivity between adjoining commercial and residential developments.
