Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve
A new name with the designation as a “preserve” more
closely defines the role of the nature center and it’s
mission to:
• Provide places of quiet recreation that promote respect for all forms of life
• Foster learning experiences about the natural environment of North Texas
• Engender an enduring sense of community and its natural history
• Preserve our natural resources
The new name complies with City’s Naming and Renaming of Park Facilities Procedure adopted February 18, 1996.
Procedure allows naming or renaming of parks after:
Deceased individual(s) who served the community
Deceased local, state, national or international figure(s)
Local, state or national geographic area, landmark, or event, and
For any symbol or concept associated with the City of Southlake, the State or Texas or USA
Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve

If approved, the new name will be included in the FY 2009 revisions to the
Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan
Southlake 2025 Plan
